We are immensely grateful for Ruth’s ongoing support as she has taken the lead on calling for reform in the Commons. As the former Head of Programme for Cyber, Justice and National Security at BT, she has first-hand experience of working in the cyber sector and the challenges of the Computer Misuse Act. Ruth wrote the foreword to the report we published with techUK, which highlighted the many ways that reform would benefit the UK’s cyber security industry. You can read her foreword here. We have worked closely with him in this role to ensure that reform of the Computer Misuse Act will soon be a reality. In January 2021 we presented at a virtual panel discussion hosted by the APPG titled: ‘The Computer Misuse Act - does it need reform?’ – following which, the APPG wrote to ministers about the need for reform.
